Chippenham Travel Guide

Much of the town centre is now pedestrianised making shopping much more of a pleasure than the days when heavy traffic thundered through the town. Shopping in Chippenham is much the same as many other small market towns, the usual national chain stores and a smattering of specialist shops, Emery Gate Shopping complex and The Borough Parade development are popular shopping spots.
A short drive from Chippenham is Lacock Abbey set in the picture postcard village of Lacock. It was here that William Henry Fox Talbot invented the negative positive photographic process. Monkton Park and the Olympiad Leisure Centre on the outskirts of town are popular recreation spots for locals and visitors alike.
