Costa De Almeria Travel Guide
Covering the southeastern corner of Spain is the rugged Costa de Almeria. This coastline is relatively untouched leaving a laid-back, authentic Spanish seaside. Although plenty of exploration through quaint villages and nature reserves can be undertaken, there are a few full-service, ‘sit back and do nothing’ resorts around. In fact, the tourist resorts of Roquetas de Mar and Aqua Dulce are a package holiday haven. The Roquetas de Mar is the biggest and the most populous of the kind and although it is bustling with open-air cafes, traditional Spanish bars and lively music you will still manage to find a spot to lay your beach blanket. Another popular sun bake base is Almerimar. This resort is set around one of the largest marinas in the Med making it an ideal place to laze the sun while watching the world go by. Further up the coast you will stumble upon the picturesque, hilltop village of Mojacar. Another well-liked and atmospheric resort, Playa Majocar holds all the amenities you might need.
If you wish to escape the beach, explore Cabo de Gata Nijar, a national park with spectacular caves or marvel at the El Tajo gorge.
