Gibraltar Travel Guide
The coastline is largely rocky with extensive sea cliffs with the east side boasting unique sand-slopes created by wind-blown sand when the sea levels were much lower. The Rock’s most famous inhabitants are the Barbary Apes, the only wild primates in Europe, whose presence, according to folklore, ensures continued British sovereignty. The plant life is abundant with over 380 species including several species unique to the island. Gibraltar is also a staging post for thousands of migrant birds. With a superb Mediterranean climate and excellent tourist industry it is a popular place for people looking for a little piece of Britain in the sun.
