St Annes has a historic pier and is a pleasant contrast to tourist-neighbour Blackpool nearby with its pleasant air and scenery. St Annes has an excellent variety of shops within its compact shopping centre while the kids might enjoy a donkey ride on the beach, the Toy and Teddy Bear Museum and Pleasure Island and Charlie Chalks Fun City at Salters Wharf. Next to Salters Wharf is a pitch and putt golf course which can be great excitement for the family. St Annes boasts cinemas, pubs and clubs as well as beautiful Ashton Gardens, the famous sand dunes and landscaped gardens along the promenade.
Lytham Green with its famous windmill makes a peaceful place to relax after exploring the tree-lined shopping centre filled with pavement cafes. Lytham boasts many of the Fylde's finest restaurants and cafes. To experience the town at its liveliest, visit on Lytham Club Day. Lytham club day can get very busy and they are street parties whilst people watch and admire the floats that pass. A former fishing village, it has transformed into one of the most attractive shopping towns on the Fylde coast with many speciality shops selling everything from traditional cheese to modern clothing outlets.
Lytham's history is looked after by the Lytham Lifeboat Society and Heritage Group based at the Windmill and Old Lifeboat House. Lytham Hall is also well worth a visit.
