Pakistan Travel Guide
The northern highlands are comprised of rugged towering peaks and incorporate the 2nd highest mountains in the world. The southwest is essentially an inhospitable plateau and the southeast barren deserts. Despite most of the countries lack of natural flora the lower slopes of the mountains are a patchwork of coniferous forests multicoloured fields of flowers. The mighty Indus flows for 1550miles to the Makran coast, its delta home to marsh crocodiles. Elsewhere bears, snow leopards, deer and jackal roam freely whilst the 500mile coastline teems with sharks, shellfish and turtles. There are three distinct seasons: – cool, Oct to Feb; hot, Mar to Jun; wet Jul to Sep – but these vary considerably by region.
