Scheveningen Travel Guide
Tourists have been visiting Scheveningen for over a hundred years since people started travelling to the coastal town to follow a health cure. The cure house here, or “The Kurhaus”, is now a magnificent hotel, which still has signs from the past and is very proud of its history, as is the whole town.
However, Scheveningen has recently witnessed extensive redevelopment, mainly on the sea front and now boasts a casino, multi-screen cinema, a new pier and excellent shopping centre.
With direct tram and bus connections from The Hague, the town is easily accessible and attracts visitors all year round, although being a coastal town it comes to life in the summer. Visitors head for the lovely stretch of beach here in droves and it’s easy to see why. The place buzzes and there’s so much going on from crazy sand castle building competitions to the stylish North Sea Jazz Festivals to the not so hip Smurfs Festivals!
In the evenings there’s enough variety of restaurants, bars and clubs to suite all tastes and every Friday evening during the summer there’s a fantastic midnight firework display from the pier.
It’s a really fun place where you could enjoy a traditional relaxing bucket and spade holiday with the family or a full on action packed holiday bash
