Telford Travel Guide
Telford is at the heart of the borough, comprising the market towns of Newport and Wellington, along with towns that spawned the Industrial Revolution such as Madeley and Ironbridge. Ironbridge, now a World Heritage site gives the new town its name from Thomas Telford who built the world’s first iron bridge here. The Ironbridge Gorge Museum provides a fascinating insight into global importance of this area in the 17th and 18th centuries. The 500 acre Telford Town Park is home to a number of leisure and recreation facilities.
