Tonga Travel Guide
Togatapu has a reef-protected harbour, Nu ku’alofa and is generally flat with a large lagoon and lots of smaller islands surrounding it. Eua is hilly and forested with spectacular cliffs and lovely beaches. Ha’spai is a curved archipelago with excellent beaches. There are also large areas of rainforest and bushland throughout the islands. Bird-life is surprisingly sparse but the reefs around the islands are home to over 100 species of tropical fish. Fauna includes two species of iguana, flying foxes and large fruit bats. The climate is comfortable with summer temperatures (December to April) reaching 25 to 33C, dropping to 17 to 22C during the winter months.
