Uruguay Travel Guide
At its most northerly point is Montevideo the capital where over half the population live. There are two low mountain ranges the Cuchilla de Haedo and Cuchilla Grande, with 5 rivers flowing across country into the Uruguay River. Flora is mainly grassland and used for grazing livestock but there are occasional patches of forest along the banks of the rivers and streams. The climate is temperate even in winter when temperatures fluctuate between 10 and 16C. The summer months, December to March, see temperatures between 21 and 28C.
