Kasbah Zitoune
A hand-built kasbah with hand-beaten copper basins in every room, on a hilltop with 360° desert views.
Kasbah Zitoune was hand-built between 2002 and 2006 in the village of Tifoultoute, six kilometres from Ouarzazate, using local materials and reed-ceiling techniques rather than restoring an existing structure. Twenty-four rooms come with ensuite bathrooms fitted with hand-beaten copper basins, and the hilltop position gives every angle a 360° desert and mountain view.
A pool and jacuzzi make the most of that view at sunset, which reviewers mention more than almost anything else about the property. It's a genuinely accessible price point for the amount of architecture and setting on offer, with airport transfers and disabled-accessible facilities available.
