A cash-only budget guesthouse by Bab El Hammar gate, prized for its breakfast and warmly personal staff.

Dar Zman is a small, family-feeling guesthouse just inside Bab El Hammar, one of the medina's old gates — a location useful for anyone arriving with luggage or wanting quicker access to the newer part of town. Its rooms are individually decorated around a small central atrium, and a rooftop breakfast room plus small roof deck give views over the city and surrounding mountains.

Reviewers are remarkably consistent on staff (lending hairdryers, upgrading rooms at no extra cost, honest local recommendations) and breakfast, repeatedly called excellent. The genuine trade-off is that this is a strictly cash-only property — no card payments of any kind — so arriving with enough dirham matters. Showers run small, and as in much of the old medina, ageing plumbing occasionally means minor smells.
