Riad Mazar is a small, six-room riad — two traditional rooms plus four suites — run in person by its owner Khalid, who cooks breakfast and dinner for guests himself. Ornate carved ceilings and a rooftop terrace give it real character, and it sits five minutes from Bab Bou Jeloud, the Blue Gate that marks one of the medina's main entrances.

What sets it apart practically is access: an elevator (almost unheard of in a Fes medina riad) and street parking right outside, which matters more than it sounds once you've dragged a suitcase through the old city's alleys. Round-the-clock security and a genuinely hands-on owner round out a small, dependable stay.
